Dr. Michael J. Emmerling is a general urologist dedicated to providing comprehensive, patient-centered care for a wide range of urologic conditions. A native of Rochester, New York, Dr. Emmerling completed his undergraduate studies at Boston College before earning his medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine. He then completed his urology residency at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he received advanced training in the medical and surgical management of urologic diseases.
Dr. Emmerling’s clinical expertise spans the full spectrum of general urology, including the diagnosis and treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), kidney stones, and cancers of the prostate and kidney. He has a particular interest in minimally invasive surgical techniques—utilizing endoscopic and robotic-assisted laparoscopic approaches—to optimize outcomes and recovery for his patients.
With a strong emphasis on patient education and shared decision-making, Dr. Emmerling is committed to ensuring each patient fully understands their diagnosis and treatment options. His approach prioritizes collaboration and compassion, with the goal of improving quality of life and fostering long-term health and wellness.
Outside of his medical practice, Dr. Emmerling enjoys spending time with his wife and their dog, staying active through exercise and golf, and cheering on the Buffalo Sabres.
